I'm Not Going to Die

Short Story, 2015

Ani A. Asatryan

In “I’m Not Going to Die,” Ani Asatryan paints a vivid portrait of contemporary urban existence.

The story delves into not just the stark economic realities of the modern world, but also the stagnant cultural constraints imposed on young girls.

The narrator’s quest to ignite a spark of freedom in a girl from her neighborhood leads her to an unsettling discovery: the girl is nowhere to be found. This absence becomes a powerful symbol of the broader lack of awareness among many young girls about their potential to choose their own paths and make their own choices.
